The town of Old Hickory features a mixture of old architecture and new. Several hundred homes date back to the World War I era, when DuPont constructed permanent housing for its employees. These range in style from simple bungalows to ornate Colonial Revival structures. These houses generally rent for anywhere between $995/mo and $1,500/mo. Newer homes, most of which have been built within the past two decades, have a much higher rental price. The majority of new homes in Old Hickory are of the executive mansion type and feature spacious lawns, swimming pools, or tennis courts. On the other hand, it is also possible to find fully renovated ranches from the 1960’s and 1970’s for around $1,650/mo.
